Team Takedown STRIKES at Snakebite Fight!
Shane's win should of been by KO. He knocked his opponent out cold at the 10 second mark of the fight, but the ref did not stop it, so he had to jump on him and punch him a few more times before the ref stopped it. It was a very impressive knockout!!!
Johny fought next and won by referee stoppage due to strikes 32 seconds into round 2. Round one, Johny won the stand up and the ground game. He actually let his opponent up so he could work his stand up game a little more. He looked precise with his punches and very confident. He ended the fight with a huge body shot, which bent over his opponent and he never recovered. The fight was stopped with his opponent standing in a bent over position and Johny throwing bombs at him.
Jake was our third fighter of the night, and had a very tough opponent. His opponent was 8 wins with only 3 losses, with all 8 wins coming by KO in the first round. The fight started with Jake shooting a single leg and trying for a quick takedown, his opponent started throwing punches making Jake change from a single leg to a inside body lock, he then finished with an awesome outside leg trip, landing in half guard and quickly passed to side control. He then secured a crucifix and tried to finish with several submission attempts to his far arm. His opponent was tough. He was not going to tap. Finally Jake ended the fight with an elbow to his opponents head, knocking him out momentarily, but long enough for the ref to stop the fight. Afterwards I spoke to his opponent, and Jake did dislocate his shoulder with one of the submission attempts.
Eric's fight was the strangest of all. His original opponent failed the pre-fight physical a hour before the fights. The matchmaker then spoke to several of the trainers present and found an alternate opponent for Eric. Eric never even blinked and willingly was ready to fight anyone they put across the cage. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the new opponent. After his opponent entered the cage, Eric was called out. During his entrance, they announced his credentials of National Boxing Champion and 2-Time All-American Wrestler, which was enough to send his opponent running. The new opponent threw in the towel before the fight had a chance to begin. Eric wins by DQ. Eric was emotionally let down afterwards. Very frustrating to train that hard, make the weight, and then not get to fight. Good learning lesson.
Overall, a very successful night for TTD. I had many comments on how remarkable the fighter's skill level has advanced, even from just six weeks ago. I can only imagine where they will be six months from now or even a few years from now. It is very exciting.
